Who the heck are you?
The name’s Toy… Chris Toy. I’ve lived all over including growing up in Hong Kong (where my British schooling planted the football seed deep in my brain), Melbourne, London, Chicago and New York. People often ask me where I’m from, and I actually no longer have any idea.
What’s the story behind Studs Up?
Well, allow me to take you back a few years. In 2006 I started a football blog called CaughtOffside which became pretty popular and eventually I sold it to a sports network a couple years later. What hit me during all of that was football fans didn’t seem to be having all that much… well… fun. Everything was focused around passion, drama and life-or-death results. Those are wonderful parts of being a fan but can also get a little grim.
I wanted to people to also have an outlet to laugh, be entertained and have fun with football just like when we were kids. As another maniac once said… “Why so serious?”
So I created Studs Up.
Any plans to expand Studs Up beyond the comic?
Yep, I’ve got a few things coming that I’m really excited about that will be part of the Studs Up brand and work towards the same goal as the comic - to put some fun back into football. I think the SU fans will be really pleased.
