Tweetering on the brink

Belated Happy New Year to everyone, and I hope you had an excellent holiday. I took a bit of a break myself between Christmas and about a week ago, and feel much better for it.

The big news was obviously Roy’s sacking, which was hardly a surprise and hardly undeserved. His tenure had zero momentum from day one. Zero. Yet he still managed to be a wonderful source of comedy for his face-mashing and need to constantly reassure himself of his quality and effort through the press. He will be missed. I was too young, and in Hong Kong, to remember Dalglish as a manager but he’s already out to a fiery start. Rafa and Roy were A+ entertainment even if their football was largely rather tedious. Don’t let us down, Kenny.

Babel’s Twitter fiasco was good to see right on the back of Glen Johnson’s. The more walls that get broken down between footballer and fans the better. I don’t want all my news and opinion filtered through the tabloid/bollocks generation machine just prior to being spat out by Sky and the rest. Unfiltered, instant, honest opinions are going to be the order of the day whether the FA or clubs like it or not. Tremendous.

Lots of exciting stuff coming soon, so keep eyes peeled. Oh and if you didn’t quite get today’s comic and the “Two… One Cup” reference, you’re actually probably better off.
