Studs Up

I fluctuate between Brevan’s position and Burt’s from this comic, almost on a daily basis. I’ve had a bit of an odd build-up to the big kickoff this weekend as I left for Australia the day after the World Cup ended and then got back just in time to miss the Community Shield. So I’ve been spaced out, missed most of the build-up and was just calmly and excitedly awaiting new football.

That is, until the familiar rush of nervousness and anxiety flooded back. After a lifetime of going through this every year, I can’t decide if I’m better off with or without the drama of football. I inevitably decided I’m better off “with”, but I’m not quite sure why. I suppose it’s the same reason why people skydive or swim with sharks, it’s just one way to feel alive.
