If you are unaware of the basis of today’s comic, I feel you must correct this gaping hole in your pop culture knowledge and movie-going experience. Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bolo Yeung, these are names which must not fade into the ether of forgotten action stars. We must preserve them. FOREVAS.

During his heyday (decade?) Jean-Claude Van Damme had a bizarre taste for doing films where he plays twins, or a twin replacing his dead twin, or films with “Double” in the title. I was never sure if it was down to vanity and wanting to play opposite the only worthy co-star – himself – or if it was some budgetary trick to avoid having to hire too many actors.

Regardless, it lead to some of the finest action films ever made as we were consistently treated to more Van Damminator than anyone could possibly want. Moreover, if you haven’t seen his quasi-biopic JCVD, you kinda need to.

After all the twin movies, of course.
