Time for a nap?

So the season has finally stumbled over the finish line and we’re left to ponder what’s next.

A very dramatic fourth place race was accompanied by a not-at-all dramatic relegation battle and a kind-of-but-not-really dramatic title race. Congratulations to Chelsea for winning it all, Spurs for getting that last Champions League spot and everyone else who managed to avoid relegation. HUZZAH. Right?

It’s amazing that almost every one of the top 6 teams is in for a transitional summer of sorts. In fact, somehow, Spurs may be the team making the least changes to their core squad for once as depth is one of their strengths. Despite what Wenger and some fans may say, Arsenal need a bit more bite about them even after the emergence of Rigobert Song. There’s only so long your band of merry munchkins can get their legs broken before you have to change the tone of the game from being the kickee to the kicker or else you’re going to keep getting hurt.

Chelsea have to start thinking seriously about their next generation of team, is it based on youth? Is it based on bringing in more 27-28 players for 30 million? I imagine everyone would prefer the former, but they haven’t shown an ability to funnel any youngster into key first team players since Jose was there despite having Frank Arnesen running around snapping up kids left and right.

United’s and Liverpool’s problems are well documented and I pray to god Rafa doesn’t get sacked or else I’m going to be in trouble. Man City will be in a state of transition for theĀ foreseeableĀ future until they’ve won everything 9 times in a row or something. Villa are probably the least likely to change much, mainly due to lack of funds.

I’m going to enjoy the break before the World Cup, it’s a nice time to relax and digest all that’s happened. The Champions League final will be relaxing to watch without the drama and sensationalism of having an English team involved. Personally, I want to see Inter lift the title if for no other reason than to see what that does to Jose’s ego and persona.

If nothing else, I can finally reclaim my weekend and put it to good use. Maybe a nap or something.
