Studs Up

My good friend Ahmed over at Soccerlens has been doing the SL awards for ages now, and does a better job of it than any other football awards I can think of. I started CaughtOffside at right about the same time he started Soccerlens back in 2006 and the awards have gotten bigger and better every year. It’s no easy task creating an award that people genuinely covet and see as recognition of their work, but that’s exactly what Ahmed has managed to do.

The 2009 awards were no different as everyone from blog editors to mainstream publications/journalists were scouring for support from their fans and readers to help them claim a “Lensy” (I just made that up). Ahmed’s also done a great job of expanding the awards to keep up with the times, categories like “Best Football Stats Site” or “Best Mobile Football App” aren’t ones you see everywhere.
