Studs Up

It’s been a great few days for Studs Up! First SU appeared at #1 in The Guardian’s “Favourite Things” and now it’s also earned a placed in The Telegraph’s list of top football websites.

Being on the list was fantastic, but even more than that I was really chuffed with was the description that The Telegraph’s Steve Wilson wrote:

“A lovingly crafted site unlike any other that returns to the comic strip format to poke fun at the foibles and peculiarities of modern football. It will take you a fraction of the time to enjoy the offerings on the one man show that puts this together must take over each cartoon so be grateful as well as entertained.”

When I set out to create Studs Up, I wanted to make something truly unique and creative that would stand apart from anything else out there. I had no idea if I could do it, but I knew how badly I wanted to. Just about a year on and there are days when I can’t believe that I’m creating football comics that you guys seem to love reading, it’s simply bizarre and amazing at the same time.

So while recognition from the mainstream press is nice, I know I wouldn’t have even gotten to this point without the support and encouragement from all of you out there reading my words-and-doodles three times a week. SU is where it is because of you, so when it makes it onto this list or that list I hope you (quite rightly) feel as responsible and excited as I do.
