@Andrei

Of course they can and should look to make money from their sport, that's not what's in question. There are right ways to do it and there are wrong ways to do it. If that wasn't the case, no companies would be going out of business.

Issuing cease and desist to people for posting the fixture list is always going to be in the "wrong way" bucket.

“They are idiots and do not deserve to manage this great sport”

They are actually not out of line with the rest of the people involved in this sport. Now, I have no clue how they plan on making money by copyrighting the cub crests, but this clearly is an issue of “they are making money on my product instead of me, mommy!”

Sport is a business. Ours faithfully who writes and draws up hilarious bits on this blog would probably not bother as much if he was not making some money off of his sketches (no offence mate). Glazer would not have paid 30 million for Berbatov if he was not expecting a return. Fifa would not give a fish about the World Cup if Blatter did not stand to make money off of ticket sales, advertisements and TV rights.

So, if the FA want to stamp out the ‘unlawful’ use of club crests, let them do it. In fact the more they do it the better. Eventually football would only be available to some people who are willing to throw 40-odd quid at Sky monthly to watch 100 matches a season and then these people from the FA would come begging The Offside to start using club crests again because the money men would not have anything to make money off anymore.

Well, that is a bit of a dream.

I have no idea what they are playing at. Threatening to sue people for posting the fixture list is an unbelievable display of pratness.
